A very good morning to you all. I live in Essex and have started the Bookkeeping course by distance study with the intention of becoming self employed one day. Apart from all the great advice that I have read on this forum, I would be interested in connecting with other Bookkeepers in the area. I am very approachable, so please ask if you have any questions (I don't offend easily!).

 ?confuse Which course?

Purely playing devils avocate here - why would a trained bookkeeper wish to connect with a student bookkeeper?  Guess what I am saying is - what is it you wish to get out of such?

Edited to add ?

Hi Joanne, (or devil's advocate! )

I am doing the AATQB course starting with Level 2. I have written one assessment and didn't make it, so I am preparing for my next attempt.

Simple networking Joanne and hopefully trained Bookkeepers are approachable to such. My 1st thought is simply to get information / ask questions on this forum. If I make some professional contacts along my path, then that's great as well.

Joe

isn't networking supposed to be mutually beneficial? what do qualified bookkeepers get out of such an arrangement?

Yes and no! It depends on what you see as "beneficial". I would suggest that a snr in any profession would surely seek to pass on information / experiences / tips and so on to a jnr (me) in a non formal (teacher / student) arena! If I asked a question elsewhere in this forum and you answered it, I would suggest that I would receive information which would improve my development - and you might get the satisfaction of helping a student - hence mutually beneficial? Is this not what this forum is about? In any event, I am not sure why this has become such a debate and to that end I must get on with some revision work so wont be replying to any further comments about my use of the word "networking"!

Kind regards

Joe
