Password Protected Payslips
Permalink Closed

We use Moneysoft for our Payroll services and password protect payslips so only the employee ( and of course the employer) can access it.

We have recently taken on a Ltd Company with a Director and one employee only.  I received a phone call this morning from the Director asking for the passwords to be removed as  he sees the payslip anyway.  With GDPR in mind, I think this may not be acceptable as the NIC reference would be shown should the email be intercepted etc.

Any views would be appreciated.

Hi Jay.  yes you're right, under GDPR you will need to password protect it, or use a secure space to send it (see IRIS openspace as an example)  presumably he has the password?  If he's still being awkward, Just tell him that you can post them instead at a reasonable fee.

Hi John.

I thought that was the case, thank you for the reassurance. The Director was complaining that we were creating red tape as his previous Accountant just sent them by email.

Not the best of starts with a new client.
