I appear to have gained another job - that of Data Controller.  On account as I am one of only two people in the company who has even heard of GDPR never mind attempted to implement it.  Feeling slightly overwhelmed but am about to start working through the 12 steps and start a data audit.

I could be some time!

You're going to have a fun time ahead of you then, enjoy :)
Each time I read more about what needs to be done for GDPR I reach for the gin bottle...and someone once told me that could lead to a different 12 step program !!

Hi Julie

You absolutely MUST report back here so we can all learn from you biggrin

The more I hear about it the more I think it's a sledgehammer to crack a nut and whilst it's important to protect data it seems to me that a lot of smaller firms will be affected unnecessarily.

Best wishes with the new role.

Good luck Julie with the new role

I do however think GDPR has been very overrated, so I am going to opt to send all my documents to clients using Carrier Pigeons (as long as I get the clients signed approval of course)

Oh Julie no

Look what happens when you let on to folk that you know about new stuff......you just get the extra workload!!! Should stayed quietwinkbiggrin

Hope it's more dosh And if it isn't, demand it!! Well done on the promotion, have fun with it!

You will have to pop in every now and again just for the daft banter.

Don't be a stranger, we will miss you!!!

I like Doug's idea of pigeon post. Reckon I will just pretend I use HMRCs basic tools and say no one is getting a payslip ever again!  I've already told the staff at one clients that they aren't allowed holidays ever again. I'm sure I heard the words something and orf!

Ha ha pigeon post. There is something to be said for that. Iâll still be running payroll & yesterday I was asked to file the CIS return so Iâll still pop by. I donât think that people yet appreciate just what an onerous task it will be. I totally agree itâs all gone a lot over the top. Many of our customers are people who expect us to let them know when their gas certificates have expired (hoping to use the soft opt in for that) Am waiting for a reply from ICO about the issues regarding consent & DBS certificates.

Might be the blind leading the blind! Just waiting now for everyone to return their data audit forms.
