Refundable Deposit in COA
Permalink Closed

Hi All,

At last some sunshine to make everyone feel better!

My company take a security deposit from new members in case of accident or damage to the equipment hired - this would be refunded on termination of the membership, however is likely to be a few years. Where do you suggest posting this in the COA - my thoughts were 2340 (Sage 50 Accounts) but I may be a mile off!

Thank-you in advance.

Membership?

What kind of equipment is it that is kept for so long?  What does the contract say with regards to refunds of deposits?

Not sure about your sage, but potentially 2340 will be outside of the range of that captured in the area you are looking at, but then you dont say what version (although that might still not tell me if I cannot access it).

edited to add a clarifying sentence

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Hi Joanne,

The version is 23.2.4.278

The equipment hire is an aircraft and membership usually lasts a few years if not more!
