Morning all

Interesting post on Aweb yesterday concerning Taxfiler and access to clients HMRC data

https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/taxfiler-now-has-full-api-functionality

Not had a chance to look on Taxfiler yet but will be good if you can access the data as I have been having a nightmare trying to get a clients PAYE details, he has had 2 jobs in the past year none of which are showing on his Personal Tax account and his last P45 does not have any pay details on it, so looks like another day spent on the phone to HMRC for me, seems like that is all I have done so far this week.

Hi Doug
I clocked that but not tried to pull the data through yet so unsure if I have to do the bit of jiggery pokery talked about.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Hi Doug

That's good news then, I'll try it when I do my next submission.  Obviously I realise it hasn't got the 17/18 data yet.  Last year I got some info from using Sage Self assessment, which was free, but if I can do it from within Taxfiler, even better

Hi John,

Yes, remember your post about Sage and tried it at the time and it worked fine, so I did try it again for the client I mentioned here and after having to go through all the HMRC security it kept coming back as access forbidden, so not sure if there may be a time limit on the free use.

Ended up having to phone HMRC today and they are going to post his PAYE details out to him within 2 weeks, not ideal but at least I will finally get the information needed.

Cheers

It does work I just tried it, but I did have to re authorise myself in settings and could only get the 2016/17 data but certainly good news for the future once they get it all up to date.
