I use QuickBooks Pro 2015 desktop that I can use for multi companies (not that I have many). However when filing VAT returns recently there were problems with authentication and eventually, I did a paper return. However, I think Intuit are doing away with buying a full license and starting up a pay monthly license as of 2018. So I just wondered if there were any other good accounting packages (preferably desktop and inexpensive) that I can use for my bookkeeping clients that anyone can recommend. I want to file VAT online and do monthly P&L reports. I would prefer to buy the full license rather than pay monthly for each client.
Surprised you havent seen something about this, at least from your software provider, if not on here.
All software is the same, due to additional authentication being required by HMRC, plus some will tell you some rubbish about it being about MTD.
DONT believe the total b**l being bandied about by the software houses. No need to upgrade your software, plus absolutely no need to file on paper. Just do what you normally do up to the point of filing via the siftware, then just login to HMRC and finish it off that way. Its just one extra step.
No need to panic just yet, wait at least until MTD is out (if it happens) and take stock then. There will be workarounds for MTD as well, so again dont believe the pants the software companies are talking!
