I bet the bookies were rubbing their hands with glee when they took your cash off you!! Maybe less so now.
LOL at the photo Joanne
My son backed Brazil so was a tad disappointed on Friday. I was telling him about Doug's bet and he was quite impressed. Personally I didn't expect them to get past the quarters but they played with determination yesterday and were very impressive. Roll on Wednesday.
We're rooting for your bet to come home Doug

Hi Joanne/John
I always have a bet on England when they qualify for the finals be it the World Cup or the Euros, the Harry Kane/England thing was just a side bet I also have a separate bet on England to win.
Done the bet online so no funny looks from the bookies (especially as I now live in Wales) not sure if it was 2006 or 2010 but I remember going in the bookies and writing out the slip for England to win the World Cup and for Wayne Rooney to score a hattrick in the final that did get funny looks as there was no odds on the system and the guy had to phone the head office to get them as I don't suppose anyone else was stupid enough to even think about it
EDIT to replace 2012 with 2010 as I would have got even stranger looks if I had wrote to win the 2012 World Cup seeing as there wasn't one!

With so much of it in my Twitter feed, though, I did put a comment on there. Something along the lines of:
"As someone with zero interest in football, I think I understand all the "It's coming home" jokes/references filling my feed: England have beaten Ikea (quite literally in the case of a number of idiots) and now fans have a collective semi. Is that right?"
