I was just wondering, has anyone used Prelude accounts before? It's cloud based, I've just had a look and it seems ok. I was offered it free to use, apparently it's going to be MTD compliant, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this software?
It's the first time I've heard of them, but first glance seems reasonable. Seems to have started off as a windows package then changed to the cloud.
Didn't like this bit though.
STILL USING SPREADSHEETS?
Working with spreadsheets alone, although fit for purpose for your current operations, will not be MTD-compliant and so you must change to introduce software to your bookkeeping, accounting and reporting procedures. Your clients must also change their procedures to start using MTD-compliant software. Otherwise, you will have to do extra work to process their transactions into MTD-compliant software for no extra remuneration.
Cleverly worded, but spreadsheets are absolutely fine with bridging software. No extra renumeration? Rubbish prelude, we are allowed to pass on the cost you know.

I took a quick glance before shutting down last night - you obviously read a little more than me, John, because I'd have been fuming at reading that! It strikes me as yet another example of a cloud provided throwing in a little FUD to try and encourage take up of their product.
What did strike me when I glanced was their pricing structure - not tiered at all; instead a flat tenner a month (possibly plus VAT, I can't remember) in all cases. Similarly, I like that their free trial is based on a number of customers/suppliers/transactions - hit the magic number in any one case, and the free trial ends - rather than being time limited.
On the flip side, I didn't spot any screen shots or anything like that to show how the various modules are presented or used - it could be an amazingly brilliant UI, or the worst one yet, they aren't telling people who don't sign up.
And then, of course, is that it's cloud.

Depending where they are saying that and how they are putting it, I wonder if there's a case to take them to the ASA?
(Though TBH, the ASA are a bit toothless these days. Pre-internet, reporting things to them could achieve something, because magazines etc could be told not to carry adverts from a company until they obeyed the rules. These days, ASA just tells companies off, several months after the advert in question is finished with and has achieved the sales the company wanted.)

Worse thing was the bloody email came in from Accountingweb, but then what can one expect from their 'lets grab as much as we can in income, stuff the readers'view that they have these days.

It was, I bought it for £3k in 1995 as a private hire taxi and sold it a year later to a friend for £2k. He more or less ran it into the ground then px'd it for another car. I went with him to the garage and bought it back for £150, ran it over the Christmas period and made £800 then sold it to another mate for £150
I'll let you know how I get on with Pandle. I've been wanting to trial it for a while. Never used Wave so I can't comment on that.
