Hi all, just wanted to drop a note on here to say that if you register for MLR with HMRC check your renewal has gone through properly.
I thought mine had until I checked and have since been told by HMRC that there could possibly have been a glitch in the system and it has been put though as a new registration but not accepted, just sat there pending.
I am still waiting since April (there is another post on this forum about how long people are having to wait) and still showing 'Application Pending' got to the stage where I don't care anymore I only ever check when someone mentions it, HMRC say its okay to continue whilst waiting for the renewal and I am still showing on their MLR register as being supervised so hopefully it goes through before I have to apply again in 2019 but I am not holding my breath

A bloomin good reason to read the site posts on a daily basis. Full of useful and occasionally totally useless information to make bookkeepers/Accountants lives easier!

Hi Jo, maybe skim reading isnt the best thing to do if you are replying to someone on here. People can take comments personally even if they arent meant to be.
Unfortunately no one is perfect, we all make mistakes sometimes and I realised my mistake when you posted at 21.53, hence my apology (which was and is genuinely meant) and explanation at 22.00.
Unfortunately there are so few of us on this forum attemptimg to answer all the posts, whilst continuing doing our busy day jobs, that occasionally we have to skim read. Or perhaps just allow questions/posts to go unanswered, newbies to be ignored and people left to flounder.
That said I for one I'm fast coming to the conclusion that responding on this forum and indeed to folk who approach me offline, is not a good thing to do at all, in part due to the increasingly commonplace lack of thanks, but also due to the abuse and even the odd threat, it's becoming unacceptable, so small wonder I read posts at all. In fact maybe that's the best thing to do.

Noooooo!!! Yes it's a shame so few of us are answering but the quality is there for sure. It will be a sore loss if we lose your input, I for one very much appreciate it.
I'm just thinking out loud but maybe posts from business peeps should simply be ignored by all of us. I think that the "businessman" who was on here recently behaved deplorably and I can only apologise for my detailed reply (done in genuine faith) which only encouraged him to continue. The site is for genuine accounting professionals to help each other, which we do. It has a good community feel and a nice bit of banter, which I love.

I would prefer someone to skim read my post and offer a reply rather than someone to read the whole post carefully but then say nothing, at least the reply more often than not will lead to further discussion (a bit like this post)

Seeing as it was my comment that seems to have caused this I would just like to clarify that it was not a dig at you but more of a pointer to say that there is another post based on MLR that you might want to read as it shows that others are having similar problems.
