Hi hun,

you got brassed off with entry level clients as well?

Go for it. You would make a truly great trainer. Trainee accountants who actually want to learn are so much better than micro business owners who never really seem to get past the idea that you are an imposed overhead.

All the best,

shaun.

 Morning Shaun

Strangely enough, I love micro clients, they are my bread and butter and apart from a couple, they are a joy to work with.  Whether I'll feel the same way as I expand I don't know, time will tell.

Hi Joanne

Every year for the past 3 or 4 years I've wanted to go to Accountex, and every year I end up not going, due to life getting in the way.  Hopefully this year will be different, I'll send you an email.

Hi Joanne

Never been to Accountex, might have a look and see

And I do think that you would make a great AAT training provider and it certainly sounds interesting.

 Hi John,

Been reading all the posts just not quite had the time of late to reply as often as usual, got a lot going on at home which has had to take precedence

Didn't watch the Big Bash, forgot all about it to be honest but after your post I did read the report on the game and it sounds like I missed a cracker, I have been watching England in the tests over in the Windies though but that was pretty dismal apart from the final test.

Cheers

Hi folks
TBH Im ultra lucky with my clients not seeing me as an imposed overhead, with a few wanting me to do more on the consultancy type side and happy, it seems, to pay me even more! Guess Im lucky also that I have mostly clients in the £1m + T/o bracket, yep nowhere near my old lot in my past life, but not many at what some would consider entry level. A couple, but again they seem to be trying to push all sorts of other bits, non Accountancy related, my way although Im resisting some of it as its what I consider admin type although not in the traditional sense. Maybe I should employ an all rounded bod who can assist with that. I consider that I have a fab relationship with all my clients, even the ones I have to bash over the head with a hammer every now and again to focus their minds - yeah, bashing them doesnt help really does it, but you know what I mean.

My desire for a change mostly comes from the ridiculous MTD and other such rot. First RTI - which solved NOTHING. A couple of minor changes by HMRC which solved NOTHING. Indeed such have created more bloody hassle and extra work than was necessary. So I cannot see how MTD is going to make our lives any easier and frankly Im bored stupid with the whole thing and its not even started yet.

Ive managed to get on an Accelerator programme for the AAT Training practice lark, although if I dont go and meet up with them soon I may lose the place. Ive got a bit of real soul searching to do, although the daily thought that marches through my head when it gets to about 3pm every day is - oh just retire for gawds sake. I had a day out on Friday - just upped and abandoned my client as it was so gorgeous, trecked half way across the country and had an amazing day, just didnt want to come back to it all.

Thanks for your kind words though folks. More pondering to do.

Oh and re Accountex - sorry John Ive not been back to you, Im just checking the dates when my sister outlaw needs me to boy sit my nephew whilst she goes galivanting! Will get back to you as soon as!

Hi Joanne

Oh heck, I told you retiring to the Bahama's was your favoured option lol.  I'm sure you'll settle on the option that's best for you.

No worries about getting back to me, I'll leave that in your hands.

I find gin helps the pondering!

If I was in your area I'd definitely be signing up biggrin

I'm starting to think about what I should do next now I've got some practical experience...just need more brain space to decide what would be the best option blankstare

ah, what buying it?  I might give it away!

Someone mentioned MTD for CT - my thoughts - that is exactly when I will retire, if not before.

So do tell - what are the options?

I find alcohol of any sort just sends me to sleep, unless of course its those hgihly caffein laced espresso martins - wide awake for 3 days and then comatose for another 4!   That sounds like a plan though.

Gawd - DL?  Oh noooooooo!!!!!!   Ive helped a fair few on such courses, or maybe hindered, Im a bit of a nightmare tutor.....think about it yourself and let me know type. Even if you muck it up it doesnt matter, but apparently most just want the answers - how that helps them in an exam I dont know, although for some its obvious by the number of times they have failed!

I'm very much hoping to go Doug, as I've not been before. If I do then I'm making it into a mini break go down the night before and spend one of the days sight seeing. Already said to Joanne about meeting up if she goes and would love to meet up with you as well if you go.

I'm going down for the first day. I went last year and got some really good ideas. Would definitely say it's worth a visit. Would love to meet up with anyone who's going
