I've been looking into how to sign my clients up for MTD. Are any of you thinking of charging for doing it?
It looks like it will only take a few minutes per client but involves an email going to the client for them to confirm and then switching it on in the software (I'm using QB online so I'm referring to that, not sure what other software packages do). I'm reluctant to ask clients to do it themselves as I anticipate the questions coming from some will take longer to respond to than just doing it myself and I want to make sure it's done on time.
I won't be charging for getting them signed up but will/have increased my prices for VAT clients. Not a lot, but it will cover the additional cost of software (VT accounts in my case) and make a bit of extra profit going forward.
Just a suggestion, but I would leave well alone until April. Going by the threads on aweb it isn't an easy process. I'm listening to an HMRC webinar this next week for Agents, so I'll post some thoughts/musings afterwards.

Agree with John, I am not doing anything until April and my head is still firmly in the sand hoping it will all go away.
No I will not be charging any extra.
I'm in the same place as Doug
I listened to an hmrc webinar sometime last year and they made it look easy to sign clients up. (My mind hasn't retained any of the detail though ) I was keeping well away until it actually happens.
