Bristol-Anyone need any FREE help in exchange for insight into being self employed???
Permalink Closed

Hi All,  I'm new to this site so be nice... please lol I'm currently finishing my AAT Level 4 and I also work full time as a assistant management accountant. Upon completion my AAT I want to go self employed however I'm lacking the confidence  I have had plenty of exposure to bookkeeping and vat returns and cis etc but never done SA. I have 10 years experience in doing accounts and can do bookkepping and vat return etc for a company with my eyes closed, I'm just struggling to understand and put together accounts for a company whilst being self employed.... it's probably as simple as I think but I need a little experience. So, If anyone who is self employed in the Bristol area and is looking for some free help during evenings and weekends in return to allow some real life insight into the self employed life in accounts then please get in touch.  I am more tha happy to sign a NDA, confidentiality agreement or whatever you decide so you dont fear I will come in and steal your clients or anything. I merely need the self employed experience. I just need to learn how to do this self employed and have some confidence in myself. Thanks in advance :)

Hi Zouhra

Can you pleas add your first name so that it appears below the signature bar, and above your mantra don't get etc, so that it appears on all your posts. Just saves folk having to look up your name each time they respond. You can do this via Profile--> edit---> signatures.

There are a few folk on here from the Bristol, North Somerset area so will leave them to contact you direct.

But I would also consider trying to use your contacts to get some experience for a year or two in a practice locally in a paid position. You will need at least 6-12 months experience of the items you have not yet covered to be able to get your MAAT MIP or you will have to consider getting a licence elsewhere and then not mentioning the AAT whatsoever in any kind of marketing, including a website etc.

Besides getting some real proper practice experience can only help you help your proposed clients better.

Are you also considering getting some more tax experience/exams? Tax being all folk are really interested in, or how they can pay less tax.

How are you getting on with the MTD updates?

Oops. Welcome by the way!

it might help if you add what modules you have completed at level 4 (full names not abbreviated titles)

hi again
I can see you have been back on, perhaps not had time to respond yet. But you might find you get more responses if you answer the Qs posed/acknowledged the fact someone has already answered you.
