Sending Excel reports securely
Permalink Closed

HI, I use QuickBooks Pro 2016 (desktop) at a clients premises. Their accountant would like me to send her the end of year reports as excel spreadsheets. Is there an easy secure way to do this please? I have BT and Gmail emails. I can do the reports it's sending them securely I'm not sure about. Hear from you soon. Many thanks.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

Hi Zoe,

What Joanne said. However, from painful past experience, password protecting Excel files is notoriously weak, so I think that is probably not a route you'd want to go down.

Another option to add to the list. I have a client that has asked me to send them Excel files zipped using the 7-Zip program which allows password protection of the zip folder containing the Excel file(s). Interestingly, Windows can open the zip file (after supplying the required password), so the recipient doesn't need the 7-Zip program.

Regards,
