Just submitted some accounts to Companies House and when I checked on the website I realised that I had submitted accounts for a dormant company instead of a trading company, totally my fault as I had ticked the dormant box in Taxfiler instead of trading, all the information is correct and these have been accepted by CH as well as the return by HMRC.
Should I amend these? and if so can they only be done by post, looked on Taxfiler and can not seem to find any other way to do it.
Any advice appreciated as always
Cheers

When you say all the information is correct does that mean there are trading figures there but they've just been marked as dormant? What does it look like on the CH website, do they say dormant there? If so but the accounts are correct it may be worth making a phone call to them and see if the dormant part can be removed. If you can't you'll probably have to send hem correctly by post. https://www.gov.uk/annual-accounts/corrections-and-amendments

Just an update, as I have finally got around to ringing CH, only way to amend them is resend the accounts with 'Amended' clearly wrote on them and to send them by post, but they did say that because they have accepted them it is entirely up to the Company whether they want to amend them or not.
Also noticed that the Company details are showing on the CH accounts instead of just the Balance Sheet, is that my fault as well for being an idiot and including them in the Taxfiler contents before submitting them?

Also curious about what Company details are on there that shouldn't be. Were they micro entity or FR102?
Hi Joanne
I know we like to blame HMRC for most things but Companies House is not a HMRC dept as far as I know
So, throwing this out to all readers, is it worth amending it or not? Part of me says no, the accounts are accurate, and part of me says yes, trade suppliers seeing dormant when they do a check, also possibility that it would affect a credit rating?

Hi Joanne & John
They were meant to be micro but turned out dormant, hence the problem with amendment, first time I have filed Ltd with Taxfiler and I only expected to see the Balance Sheet and the notes on 2 pages but it has included 5 pages with the company details and address on them which is not a problem as all this information is readily available on CH anyway but just wondered if there was something else I had clicked by mistake.
Hi John
With the choice of whether to amend the accounts or not if it had been for a client then I would definitely be amending them as the mistake was mine and should have no reflection on their true accounts.
Cheers both

In answer to John - I think yes. From an ethical viewpoint (as Doug says, his mistake) and also because suppliers (and others eg banks) may be in receipt of the notification of lodgement, which may just show 'dormant' and then relies on someone who can read the accounts looking into them further and could cause issues. I suspect though that most at least would be looking at the reserves rather than just the fact the they are showing as dormant, but it could impact on credit terms.
Not sure how it went wrong in taxfiler Doug as I dont use it to produce accounts - I only file to HMRC via Taxfiler by attaching the documents. I use VT Filer and a presenter code from Companies House to file with them. Darned annoying for you!!

Ah yes John, Co House only really have to remove the wrong accounts if they have made a mistake. Them posting what has been sent in - is not their mistake, so the ones labelled dormant will most likely stand. Unless you get a very kind Co House bod who removes it, but at least if the new ones follow rapidly after the 'dormant' ones then all should be well from a third party perspective.
Certianly if there is any pushback from suppliers/banks its easily enough remedied, generally speaking.
