Hi All I am a Bookkeeper who has worked Freelance for 11 years. The last 5 years I have worked under an Accountant at my place of work so did not renew my MLR as I was covered by the companies Accountants MLR. I have now left this position and have started working for a new company on a SE basis. I will be doing Bookkeeping and some HR. The company has it's own Bookkeeper already who works Freelance who has her own MLR but she will be doing less now I am on board. There is also a Firm of Accountants who do the year and accounts etc. Am I still required to re-register for MLR ? I am guessing the answer is yes but wanted to make absolutely sure before spending £440 !! An when did the fees get so high, 5 years ago it was £110 per premises

Hi Sarah, welcome to the forum.
The fees have only just gone up this year, previously it was £230 and before that £110 as you say. One off fees are £140 so it'll only be £300 next year!!! That's providing they don't up the fees again.
Are you a member of a financial institute? (ICB, AAT etc) It may be cheaper to do your MLR under them if you are.

I'm not sure how high your turnover is, but you can apply for a reduced fee if your turnover is less than £5000 per year. I agree, the fees are ridiculous!
