Hi all,
Never even heard of this before I had a meeting with a new client earlier in the week, has anyone else ever had dealings with this within the construction industry?

Hi Doug
I vaguely (very very very vaguely) recalled something of a levy from when I worked in Corporate and looked after some huge North west and national housebuilders, nut nothing since.
There is statutory guidance around this, but essentially as an external advisor all you should get involved in is (at best) the calculations (and possibly reminders as to when to pay the levy).
What is the total wage bill for this prospective client? It is likely they are perhaps under the threshold so they are exempt.
I've never heard of it either Doug but looking at the CITB website it's only if the total wage bill for employees and subbies is over 80k a year. Fortunately that's under the wage bill of my one CIS contractor.

Links were very interesting as I said I have never heard of this before despite over 30 years in and around the Construction Industry, it will not impact on my new client as yet but it came up in a discussion about another company he had with some others which is in the process of being dissolved (not by me but another accountancy firm) and that they had to pay a large amount for this levy, definitely something to bear in mind for the future though
Thanks again
