Possibly one for Shaun but when I open VT on one file I am met with a blank background, usually you see a page showing most recent transactions.  I can get the page back when I go to display > home page but when you shut VT down and reopen the file it's a blank background again.

It's only happening with this one particular file so I've obviously dropped a googly somewhere, and although I can still work on the file it's a bit niggly.

Hi John,

not something that I have ever encountered but it sounds like file corruption. Do you have a recent file backup of the .vtr file that you could try instead?

If you keep it in dropbox the one on the dropbox copy on the hard drive may still be different to the one in dropbox. Alternatively, assuming that you use multiple machines, unplug a machine that you have not checked recently from the internet and then go on and copy the .vtr file from there out of dropbox.

The only way that I could help would be in trying to open your .vtr file on my machine but of course that then has client confidentiality issues.

Are you 100% sure that the underlying .vtr dataset has not been moved to another location?

You haven't done something like compressed the folder that the file is in?

The only thing that I can suggest other than that is to use one of your five free tickets with VT and see whether they are able to identify the issue with the dataset

Sorry not more help matey,

All thje best,

Shaun.

p.s. too late now but worth noting that when I save the Excel calculation scratch pads (tax calculations, fixed asset registers etc. I alway save away a full copy of all of the transactions from Excel in that so that the file can be recreated if necessary. I've never had to use it (touch wood) but its difficult to remove corporate paranoia so very much as belt and braces type of gut.

p.s.2 Liking the Shelby Avatar Doug. I sense a theme coming on.

Hi Shaun
Sussed it, on the home page there is a tick box that says automatically open this this window when you open this company.  I had accidentally unticked it, which was why I got a blank background.
Thanks for replying, it's appreciated.
