Food Help for anyone you know who is vulnerable to Covid-19

The eagle eyed amongst you all with have noticed this changed a couple of days ago from 'vulnerable' to 'clinically extremely vulnerable' person.

It is initially meant for those 1.5m to be 'shielded' rather than 'isolated' to avoid being overwhelmed by those in the latter category, especially if they have families/neighbours/other support groups to help (encouragement is to approach the local councils 1st)

Hi Lorraine, thanks for the link

Hi Caron

I have a sister in that category (acute COPD) but fortunately she is well catered for, with family on hand to leave food etc on her doorstep.

She loves social contact so I think the hardest thing for her (and us) is meeting up, although she can "facetime" us whenever she wants.

Hi John
Is your sister one of the shielded who received a letter? Then register. Or did she not get a letter and thinks she should? Then chase up with her doctors and consider registering.

One of those, care, but if in doubt....

On the contact side, we are all getting together for a google hangout - just got to time it to include my brother who is in the US! Will really annoy him as he hated it when we all talked at once in the pub last time we all met up....can you imagine it on a small screen.

I'm sure she will have had a letter. My niece is handling all that but I will check.

The site has been updated so you cannot progress if you do are not covered by one of these categories

Do you have a medical condition that makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus?
Youre extremely vulnerable if you:

have any cancer for which youre getting immunotherapy or other continuing antibody treatments
have any cancer for which youre getting a targeted treatment which can affect the immune system - for example, protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors
have had bone marrow or stem cell transplants in the last 6 months, or are still taking immunosuppression drugs
have a severe respiratory condition - including cystic fibrosis, severe asthma or severe COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
have a rare disease or inborn error of metabolism that significantly increases your risk of infection - for example SCID or homozygous sickle cell
are getting an immunosuppression therapy thats sufficient to significantly increase your risk of infection
are pregnant, and have a significant congenital or acquired heart disease
