Does anyone have any great solutions/suggestions on dealing with CIS certs for subbies in QB. It's a real shame that the system doesn't have an option to email the certs straight out, but looking on their support forum it doesn't even seem to be something they are considering. And worse, once the return is filed you can't even access individual reports for the subbies anyway. They suggested looking at connecting an app? Does anyone know of any that are useful? Or have any other better workarounds - at the moment we print out the CIS report and then manually enter the details into Moneysoft to send out the certs from there - completely ridiculous!
Thanks

Hi John, so sorry for not responding, I had completely forgotten about that post. Thanks for the link, but it doesn't resolve the problem, even QB confirm that it's impossible to produce anything useable, and even the rubbish report they can produce can only be done before the CIS300 is filed. It's an area that they really do need to put some work into!

Unfortunately QBO CIS is really rubbish, I have a client that is on it and the accountant and I came to the conclusion because it is American they just don't understand what we need to do with it! I had a situation that we were playing catchup due to various things that had gone on, and we had done all the CIS stuff in moneysoft, but because we hadn't actually filed them in QBO, basically because we don't need to, QBO went and filed them all automatically and any transactions that I had left over on the bank feed which I hadn't delt with to do with the subbies, it then wouldn't let me match them off against their invoices. I rang QBO and complained and they basically had to undo them all and I told them to leave well alone as we don't use the CIS module in the proper way as it is crap!
The best CIS module is with Sage 50, used it for a ex-client for 2 years and it was brilliant, with the returns, the CIS certs and even re-doing a CIS return if something had come in late.
Sorry not really helpful as I haven't given you a solution!
Thanks for your reply. I had the exact same situation actually. I was trying to sort out a 3 year disaster and in August QB just decided to mark everything as filed, which as you say then means you can't mark any payments against invoices. Was a right work up trying to get them to unfile it all again. Turned out that they had done a system upgrade on that day and in order to do it had to mark everything as filed! Incredibly unhelpful. I agree though, their CIS module feels like a badly thought out after thought.
Basically the conclusion I've come to is that I just have to keep on using Moneysoft and basically duplicating the info from QB into Moneysoft to file the returns and issue the certs. Frustrating to be doubling up work and also frustrating that Moneysoft isn't online.
It's hard work sometimes isn't it!
