I have taken over the bookkeeping for a Ltd company that has been trading for a few years. My question is how do I introduce/account for the assets that were purchased in 2017 in Sage. The director used to do very basic bookkeeping and hadn't entered any of them in the software and the Accountant he was using has provided me with the information (vaguely) but I'm not sure how to go about recording it.
Any help gratefully appreciated and apologies for not popping on here more often, its been a bit of an odd time to say the least.

Why? Just leave accountant to process entries via ETB.
I'm still here although I don't really post much (no time), a few of the old names have returned and we still have a core of members who never went anywhere.
Hows life been treating you?
I keep hearing people complaining about being locked in their offices at home, never getting out, losing track of time and what day of the week it is and just makes me think, Ooh they've all become finance professionals.

Hi Shaun, I'm doing fine, it's kind of the norm for me too. It was hard when they shut the schools and trying to work from home but got through it. Of course Wales is in full lock down again so we can't do anything apart from walk in the rain but managed to get my daughter to her nans for a couple of weeks otherwise my husbands side of the family would never see her.
I do find it sad that there are so many people losing their businesses and getting no support, luckily my clients are finding other ways of making money. The chip shops and cafes are all doing deliveries and managing to make a living.
Good to hear you're battling through. Think it's only a couple of weeks away before Tier 3 areas (of which my business is in one) go into full lockdown as the hospital admissions are increasing and death rates creeping up as well (I ignore the infection rates as there are a number of false positives included)
When all this began I ever thought for a minute we would be in a similar situation but we have absolutely no control over it so all we can do is keep smiling and wait til the storm is over. On the plus side this is nothing like the spanish flu, where you could catch it in the morning and be dead by dinnertime.

lol, yep, still here. Mostly though now I'm noticable only due to my Ninja skills. i.e. "Wasn't there a spam post there a minute ago"
The real worrying thing now about the virus is latest figures suggest that the infection rates are already four times worse than the Governments estimated worst case scenario for the winter!
I can't see this ending before next summer and even then it will be more down to us having learned to live with it rather than it having disappeared completely.
Every cloud having a silver lining and all that though. The effect of the virus is that it seems to have changed forever the way that we work... Not so good if you own a sandwich shop next to some offices but for most workers I see things in future being a lot more flexible. I'm sure that there are some serious opportunities in the changing business model but just not put my finger on them yet.
