CIS penalties
(Preview)
Hi all, I have a client that failed to file CIS returns for the last 3 years. All the returns were nil but even so, as you can imagine, the penalties imposed by HMRC are substantial! Has anyone else seen this and more importantly has anyone had the penalties removed? Thanks

VAT of Goods recharged to Employees
(Preview)
Hello
I was wondering if you could provide an answer to a VAT query I
have.
If a VAT registered Company purchases an item on behalf of an
employee and pays £120.00 (£100 + £20 VAT). Should the recharge to the
employee be £120.00 (£100 + £20 VAT), or £144.00 (£120 + £24 VAT)?
Many thanks
Sarah

My manager has paid an employee twice in error. However, the second payment was NOT done as a payroll payment but simply as a direct disbursement -write cheque - and assigned to the payroll expense account. Self Assessment Penalties
(Preview)
What is the SA penalty if someone files a return, say two years late? I believe if someone is a year late they will be liable to £100 + £900 + £300 + £300= £1600. Assuming the £300 was greater than 5% of the tax due. Does the total fine stop there or is there further penalties incurred for year two?
