Incentives for clients

Does anyone offer clients incentives to recommend you to other people? What do you offer, cash or money off? How much? Do you find it works for you? Sorry for all the questions, but this is something I'm thinking about right now, just want to know other peoples views and pitfalls first. Thanks Kris
