Hello I have a client that has invoices from US companies (Mailchimp is one) that have billed in USD but put 20% Tax on the bill. The VAT number on the bill is in the format EUxxxxxxxxx. Is this UK VAT and is it claimable? I've never seen it before. Thanks

surely this is wrong, we can't just keep being due refunds from HMRC for VAT? we have to do an 8 year forecast and this will mean that we have to project this too?

Anyone else aware of this? It almost passed me by. Instead of claiming expenses, a sole trader can claim £1000 trading allowance instead, which is good if the expenses are below £1k. I'm assuming I can claim it for someone who has no expenses usually?
